David Rugh’s current practice centers on resolving environmental, land use and zoning issues in residential and commercial settings.  He assists clients in successfully developing and remodeling their properties and supports them in obtaining a variety of related environmental permits.  David’s practice also includes significant commercial, real estate and environmental litigation matters.

 Prior to joining the Firm, David served as a law clerk to the Honorable Merideth Wright and the Honorable Thomas S. Durkin at the Vermont Environmental Court, where he assisted in drafting decisions under Vermont’s zoning and land use statutes.  While in law school, David completed an externship in Washington D.C. with the Real Estate and Environmental practice group of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker, a leading international firm.  He also clerked for the Office of the Attorney General at the Maryland Department of the Environment and the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources.  David also served as a research assistant to Professor Emeritus Richard O. Brooks at Vermont Law School. 

David grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and attended Gilman School.  He now lives in Burlington and enjoys snowboarding, hiking, live music and traveling.
