Challenge to Chittenden Solid Waste District Landfill Defeated

On November 13, 2009, the Vermont Supreme Court unanimously upheld a lower court ruling that denied a challenge by a group of Williston residents to the proposed Chittenden Solid Waste District (“CSWD”) landfill. The Williston residents, all neighbors to the proposed landfill, sued CSWD and the Town of Williston arguing that the Host Town Agreement for the landfill between Williston and CSWD was void because it constituted an illegal delegation of municipal authority and lacked a termination date.

Michael B. Rosenberg at VADA Annual Meeting

Michael Rosenberg will present “How to Get the Most From Vermont’s Dealer Franchise Law” at the Vermont Automobile Dealers Association Annual Meeting on September 24^th at Montpelier’s Capitol Plaza Hotel. He will discuss the July 1, 2009 statute which conveys new rights to Vermont’s motor vehicle dealers and places new obligations upon manufacturers and distributors.

Rising Stars

Anja Freiburg and Shane W. McCormack were named “Rising Stars” by Super Lawyers magazine. This designation is limited to no more than 2.5% of the attorneys in the state of Vermont.

Michael B. Rosenberg Named to National Association of Dealer Counsel

Michael B. Rosenberg, an attorney with Burak Anderson & Melloni, PLC has been named as a member of the National Association of Dealer Counsel. Michael is the only Vermont attorney serving as a member of the NADC, a nationwide professional organization of lawyers who represent automobile dealers.

Super Lawyer

Michael L. Burak was named by Super Lawyers magazine as a Super Lawyer in the state of Vermont. Only five percent of the lawyers in New England are named by Super Lawyers and the selections are made after a rigorous multi-phase selection process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, independent evaluation of candidates by Super Lawyers staff, a peer review of candidates by practice area, and a good-standing and disciplinary check.

2009 Bar Register of Pre-Eminent Lawyers

The law firm Burak Anderson & Melloni, PLC was recently named to the 2009 Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Pre-Eminent Lawyers, a designation awarded to fewer than 5% of all law firms in America. In addition, several attorneys from the Burlington, Vermont law firm have recently been honored for their legal credentials by respected national publications.
